In the series of self-portraits entitled Scratch, I examine the icon and fetish of the American housewife that originated after the second World War.

In Exotica, I examine the origins of the model minority myth. In the 1950s and 1960s, as tensions and ideological differences about race, desegregation, and civil rights surfaced nationwide also did representations of Asian Americans as idealized examples of ethnic assimilation. These popular representations relied on the perceived political and social silence of Asian Americans. I am interested in the contradictory representations of Asian Americans in 1950s-60s American media as both the exotic and as successful examples of assimilation.
